Landscape ecologist. Colldecarrera exalts equally the freedom of the wide natural expanses and the isolated nook of a woodland crossed by a stream of transparent waters and where the wind shakes the branches. Genuinely splendid scenery, green-coated valleys and golden cornfields; exactitude of values, harmony of tones, the vibration of light, chiaroscuros, capturing all without mediation, in the plenitude of its natural charm.
Starting from the varying tones of woodland greens, the artist reflects the ochres which anticipate the approach of autumn, the gloomy winter mists, often the delights of La Garrotxa, the region where he lives and works and which inspires his prolific works. Thus achieving, not without difficulty the following result: the spectator experiences the atmospheric sensations of dampness and cold, according to the painting.
In a work – eminently lyrical – one finds represented, and accompanied by the precise and required atmosphere: silence, music of birds, sun, rain, odours, presence of flocks in flight, twilights, sound of water, some insect . . all this and much more is contained – both seen and heard – in the natural paintings which perpetuate his canvas. Work of a painter cognizant of his craft, and presenting it with profound sensibility.
"…Beyond certain influences perceptible in the tone, the artist, preoccupied by the sense of colour, searches, or we believe he searches, this range of topics in which are arranged the luminous vibrations, not as in a set of shades. In these vibrations he shows emphatically the force that animates his painting and the transparent density of light as a profound sensitive nerve."
